A transportation industry customer approached Refax, Inc. to refurbish multiple bridge components. The parts we refurbished were to be used in the rebuild of the Toll Road in Gary, Indiana.
We burned and fitted a number of different components, including parts used in the jacking process and strongbacks. The strongbacks were integral in the project because they were used to take the place of critical support structures that had to be removed for repair or rebuilding. After many of the support columns were fixed or replaced, we were given the crucial task of ARC welding bridge bearings to the appropriate columns. All of our welds met D1.5 AWS weld certification.
Throughout the entire refurbishing process, we were able to hold tightest tolerances of +/- 1/16". To guarantee the highest quality work, we also did a thorough, 100% inspection.

Refurbished Bridge Components Specifications
||We supplied multiple parts used for a portion of the Toll Road "rebuild" in Indiana. Some of the examples are strongbacks, these are used to secure two halves of a bridge section. Generally one half of the bridge will be cut free from support structures and the "strongback" will bind the sections together. We have fabricated various parts used in the "jacking" process. Other work performed included welding bridge bearings to the appropriate column based upon engineer specifications. All welds required D1.5 AWS weld certification.|
